We had a very different New Year this year but a really good one.
For New Year's Eve we decided to go to the harbour to watch the fireworks. There are a number of good view points and people start queueing as early as 8am!! We turned up about 11:30 and there was a big queue but Chris used his commuter skills (ie. pushing in) to accelerate the Morgan position :-)
Anyway we managed to secure a really good spot and spent the afternoon just chilling out. At 9pm the first set of fireworks went off and they were pretty spectacular. However the midnight fireworks were wonderful - they are being described in the papers as the best ever. Luckily for us the journey home was only a short walk so we were back in our apartment by 1am!
It still seems strange to hit the beach on New Year's Day...but I have to say it is better than freezing in the cold !!
Tomorrow we are heading for the Blue Mountains but stopping off at the Olympic stadium first for a tour...
Your Christmas and NYE celebrations sound wonderful - much more exciting than normal and far more exciting than ours in Romsey. Photos are brilliant and hope you have all been enjoying the sunshine on the beach today. Our Christmas was quiet and at home with Mum and lola of course. She is settling in well but causing lots of work so not having a peaceful break from work! Rog and Deb came over on Boxing Day which was lovely. Have been to the sales - slightly disappointing but always nice to take the girls shopping. Had to get a new toaster this week as Emily blew ours up trying to toast a teacake - blew all the electrics in the house and farm - bless her she is dangerous! Ended up getting new microwave as well! Spent New Years Eve with Partner Family, Till Family and also Bayes Family (Jack probably knows Roz Bayes from Mountbatten) Good evening and had slightly too much to drink of course. Fireworks in London were good but obviously not as impressive as Sydney. Think you were very brave to climb the bridge - and loved the matching outfits! Sounds like Jack is having a very good holiday. Ems has been revising (I think!) as she has her first Biology and History exams in January. We thought she just had exams in June but for Biology and History they are modular so first exams are sooner than expected!
ReplyDeleteHave a safe journey home today and delighted you all had such a good holiday in Sydney. Such a glamorous lifestyle you lead now! Deb & I have made a resolution to go out more in 2011 - we have been so lazy since you left Caroline :-( Lots of Love, Lisa xxxx
