Jack SHALL go to the ball!

Thursday, Jack was invited to the Year 12 Prom, or as they call it over here, the "Formal". He took Jodie Gates and we had to be at their house at 3.30p.m for champagne and canopes! It was very nice and the girls all looked lush! At 4.30p.m the limo arrived and they were taken to a venue at Albert Park Lake in the centre of Melbourne. Jack enjoyed himself (food was good) and I picked him up at 11p.m.

Friday was another nice day weather-wise and we had a barbie in the evening since it was 28 degrees!

Saturday was our first day of our mission to be tourists and visit somewhere every weekend. I found on Tripadvisor a "Melbourne by Foot" tour, which we undertook. Met a guy called Dave at Federation Square and did a 3 hour walk round the streets of Melbourne seeing streets and things of interest you wouldn't know existed unless you were shown (see our Flickr site for some of the views). Even Sam and Will found it interesting. Afterwards, we went for our first curry in Melbourne which was recommended in the "Cheap Eats" book, or as I tend to call it, the Not so Cheap Eats Book since everywhere is more expensive than the UK! It was pretty good actually, taste wise! After that, Chris and Sam went off to see a footie match at the Aami Stadium whilst Will and I ventured home.

Today, Sunday, we have had a nice, relaxing day. I went for a 5 miler along the beach while Chris and Sam went for a 30 mile bike ride along Beach Road to St. Kilda which they thoroughly enjoyed. Will had 3 friends round for the afternoon whilst Jack played cricket.

  1. Saw the photos on FB of Jack going to prom - 2 in one year - very impressive. He looked very smart and all the girls looked lovely -including Caroline! Great to hear you had your tourist outing on Saturday - the photos on flickr are brilliant. Glad that Sam and William joined in and also enjoyed it. Saw update from Sam that he had been on long bike ride - very impressive. Assumed that only Chris went but think Caroline and Will need to get bikes and join in!

Girls have started half term holiday and think Ems will sleep all week. She is exhausted with all the academy training and essays on Russia & China and they had tests on all subjects just to check on progress. We also have to go into Southampton to buy some new goalie gloves as Ems has lost another pair! Caroline will know how much I hate shopping for football kit!

Temperature sounds like it is going up nicely - 28 degrees is just right for barbies and visiting the beach. I am sure the boys will be spending a lot of timne at the beach in the next few months - have they got surf boards yet?

Look forward to hearing about your next tourist trip next weekend. Lisa xxxx

  2. Hi boys!

Jack you look very smart in your suit! I am missing seeing you all but have been looking at your blog with Mum! I wish you could see Charlie properly, he is great and so much fun.

On Saturday, Dad and I went to see Chelsea v Wolves. We won 2-0! Are you happy that Rooney is staying at Man U Sam? I have told Dad to look out for him as he is in Dubai this week! What do you think of Hernandez?
Jack - here comes Pompey's miraculous comeback!
Have you bought a Nerf gun yet Will?
Hope to hear from you soon.

  4. Hey Alex, this is Sam. It's good to hear you've been following our blog I hope you are all ok. Charlie sounds like a lot of fun and he looks like it! What breed is he? Hernandez is brilliant what a signing although Rooney's being a complete prat at the moment. I don't think he'll leave Man U maybe forever partly because he won't go to another British club and he's too thick to learn another language! Did u go trick or treating last night, Will had some friends round and they all went out together! Hope school is going well for you.
Hope to speak to you soon x
