Melbourne Cup Week

Chris has been working in Sydney again this week. Yesterday, he went out into the field with some Telstra consultants and was working in Manly - maybe one of the best beaches in Australia. He had to take the ferry but was kind enough to send me a couple of fotos of the view....

Weather is good here this week, lovely and sunny. Jack had P.E on the beach today which was a bit of a novelty! I had a go at playing tennis again after 4 months off, due to tennis elbow. I strapped my arm up and it held up pretty well whilst playing with Jackie, but was aching a bit the next day. Today it seems fine again, so will have a go at the social tennis evening on a Wednesday evening at Mordialloc Tennis Club, just around the corner. Hopefully, Sam will come with me.

Today, I went for a 6 mile beach walk with my neighbour, stopping off on the way home for a coffee - very nice. Tonight, Jack is playing cricket and then he and Sam are playing footsal (indoor footie) - but not till 9.15p.m. Guess who has to pick them up!!!

On Tuesday, it is Melbourne Cup Day and a public holiday to all those living in the state of Victoria. It's a bit like Royal Ascot and is Australia's major Thoroughbred horse race, held since 1860 at 3p.m on the first Tuesday in November, over a 2 mile course. It's a really big thing over here, especially because it is celebrating it's 150th Anniversary this year. Nothing planned as yet but I'm sure we will find something to do!!

  1. Hi Guys, loved the photos of Manly beach and the boat trip Chris took - how can he possibly call that work! Sounds like the boys are all enjoying their sport in Oz - sounds like whatever country you are in parents are always picking the kids up late at night - why play football so late! 6 mile walk along the beach sounds lovely - cant think of a better place to walk :-) Good to hear Caroline is back playing tennis - hope the arm stands up to all the exercise.

Girls have enjoyed half term and unfortunately back to school tomorrow. We all went to Bath which was great and new shopping area was open. Went to cinema and Southampton the next day and also spent most of day trying to get Take That tickets - havent seen any dates for Ausrtalia yet. Managed to finally get tickets in the evening but was absolute chaos!

Have the boys been out trick or treating today? The girls have grown out of this now and wont be doing anything - although I think Ems is off to see scary film at cinema this evening with frinds.

Keep taking lots of photos - particularly of the beaches. Hope the table tennis is going well and I am sure Caroline is beating you all by now :-) Take care and love to all, Lisa xxx
