After that ,we went by tram to the new Docklands shopping area (bit like Gunwharf but still work in progress). Would be nice to visit with my girlfriends rather than Sam and Will who really weren't in the mood to appreciate it!
Friday afternoon the table tennis table arrived - hoorah! Alas, instruction-less! Fantastic! We had to walk into Mordi to buy a wrench coz guess what - our tool box is in the container! It's amazing how you take things for granted - until you don't have them! Try ironing work shirts without an ironing board... interesting! But there's just no point buying another one when you know it's arriving in a couple of weeks!
So, eventually managed to build it and even Jack was impressed when he came home from work!
Friday evening we had Dave Gates birthday party and when we got home, Chris had returned, exhausted but in one piece.
Today (Saturday) we have had a relaxing day. Chris and I went for a 5.5 mile run along the beach (not so relaxing!), Sam worked all day and made up 8 bikes earning himself an amazing
$80 (£55)! We have had tennis table contests and watched the AFL final! The latter was pretty nail-biting stuff, between Saint Kilda and Collingwood - neither team having been in the final for over 20 years. Collingwood were leading by over 20 points at the half-way mark, then St. Kilda came back and it ended as a draw 68 - 68! So they have to have a replay next weekend!!!
The other exciting thing we booked today were tickets for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG! What an experience! Then we are flying the next day to Sydney for New Year celebrations for the week - something to look forward to.
Watching the re- run of "I'd Do Anything" (finding Nancy for "Oliver") at the mo! ...
pompey finally won and what a way to do it 6-1 against Leicester and Nuggent actually scored!!!

So impressed that you put the table tennis table together - who needs all those males in the house when Caroline can build tables and trampolines!! I now want to see a league table of all the matches played and who is winning - I suspect Caroline is unless the boys are cheating!
ReplyDeleteThink running 5 miles is hardly relaxing and I would rather have gone shopping but good to hear you are getting some exercise.
I am sure Chris could think about giving up work as Sam is earning so much money - obviously bikes are very popular in Oz!
Great news about New Year celebrations in Sydney - amazing, not too sure about Boxing Day Test but will be different from previous Boxing Day celebrations and certainly more exciting than mine in the UK!
Keep up the table tennis practice - I am expecting to see you in the 2010 British team at the Olympics. love to all, Lisa xxxx
Hey Mike, Saw the Pompey match on Tv yesterday arvo. Made me all nostalgic hearing the Pompey supporters and we r way over here! Can u get Sarah to send me her Blackberry email address again - I accidentally wiped it of my mob. Thx!
ReplyDeleteLisa, glad u were impressed with my maintenance skills! table tennis table being well used!
Who is this person viewing our blog from Halesowen, Staffordshire? Is it u Nick or is it Sarah Draper? Where exactly IS Halesowen? Please reveal yourself!!
Your weekend sounds a lot more exciting than ours! Keep us posted on the table tennis tournaments!
ReplyDeleteThought of you yesterday when I was at Gunwharf, didn't do too well only one pair of shoes and those were sensible ones too! I told Iain I needed them for dog walking - as if!
Charlie is getting on really well - not getting much done in the house but who cares, he is so cute and just wants to play all the time. What can you do? Garden is not looking too good needless to say!
Alex pleased that Pompey finally won a match (he is turning into a bit of a fan!) but Chelsea lost on Sat so he wasn't too impressed. You guys sound like you're really getting into the Aussie sports scene!
Have a good week.
Becky xx
Hi Becky! Lovely to hear from u :)I'm not surprised u didn't buy too much at Gunwharf coz u didn't have yr chief shopper co-ordinator with u!!! Boys watched Pompey match on Sunday and it made me feel all nostalgic! Watch old re-runs of Location, Location every day at 5 and the UK is sooo pretty - dont get any of that over here. x
